Eden Rickson: Black Beauty
This month’s book was chosen by 12-year-old London schoolgirl, Eden Rickson.
I think that having just read it, Black Beauty is my all time favourite. The reason for this is that Anna Sewell, the author, conjures up a very clever mixture of both heartwarming and bitter moments in her book. Beauty is a quiet, humble horse who tries his best to please, and during reading it, I felt as if he was resting his chin on my shoulder, telling me the story as I read it. Even if the writing is slightly old fashioned, it is a timeless children’s classic, and there will be moments when you are crying, moments when you are laughing, but most of all, it’s a wonderful book.
