Sophie Kinsella: The Diary of a Provincial Lady

For this month’s choice we asked best-selling author Sophie Kinsella to pick a book. Luckily for us, she thought of two!

Her first pick was The Diary of a Provincial Lady by E M Delafield. “This is a charming, fictional diary that I dip into whenever I want to smile. The heroine is an English country lady of the 1930s, who writes with great humour about village life, budgeting, fashions, condescending neighbours… all the same concerns that we have today.”

Sophie also chose Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. “My sister gave me this book and said: ‘You’ll love it.’ She was right. It’s a poem meets novel; for children but for adults too; for people who love poetry and people who don’t. It’s funny and tear-jerking and I read it in one go.”

Sophie’s latest book, My Not So Perfect Life is out in paperback now. Thanks to Sophie for her choices this month!
