Classicist Mary Beard chooses us a wonderful Book of the Month for September, which we look forward to incorporating into some of our children’s projects!
One book that opened my eyes was Robert Munsch’s Paper Bag Princess, which I read to my children when they were small. I was so fed up with all those romantic stories about beautiful princesses who looked lovely, but did nothing (except being rescued by some handsome prince). Here at last was a book in which the princess rescued the prince, and spoke out for herself!
