Dan Snow: Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

Historian Dan Snow picks our latest book of the month, coinciding with him kindly forming part of our Give a History Book panel.

Dan Snow, historian and presenter, chose Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, as one of the books which sparked his interest in history:

‘One of the first books I remember reading was Treasure Island and ever since then I have loved the 18th Century. It was the vocabulary. Stockade, musket, mizzen, topsail, gig… they are words that have conjured up images that have lingered in my mind’s eye ever since.’

Dan is one of the speakers at this year’s Chalke Valley History Festival, and will be sending out daily TV highlights throughout the week-long festival, which runs from 26th June to 1st July.

Thanks to Dan Snow for choosing our Book of the Month!
