Feed the Hill Foodbank
Feed the Hill is a food-bank that started when we went into the first lockdown back in March. They feed 600 people a week in north Lewisham who have been hit hardest by the crisis and who would otherwise be going hungry.
In less than a year they have grown significantly and now have 400 volunteers in their wider network and another 40 who have training in either kitchen and packing hygiene or acting as volunteer delivery drivers. These people are particularly good at sourcing surplus food from supermarkets and retailers, which would otherwise go to waste-over a tonne each week! They tailor boxes to what’s seasonally available and to upcoming holidays and festivals!
This month we have sent over 100 books to be given to children with the food boxes.
