George Mitchell School, Wind on Fire

In 2018, we worked with George Mitchell School to stock their new school library. Since then, making sure that every student has a chance to access the pleasure of reading has been a key focus of the school. Enlisting the help of ‘Reading Gladiators’ within the school is one of the ways George Mitchell School has led this charge. We asked one of them to recommend us a book this month:
Hello, I am one of the reading gladiators, Mariam. I love promoting and inspiring children to read. The book I would like to recommend is a very special book of mine that I have recently read. The book that I would like to recommend is Slaves of the Mastery by William Nicholson, the second book in the Wind on Fire series. This book is cinematic, glorious and enthralling. This book is about a village called Aramanth when the ruthless soldiers of the Mastery strike, the city is burned, and the Manth people are taken into slavery. Kestrel Hath is left behind, separated from her beloved brother Bowman, and vowing revenge. Kestrel must find Bowman again, and Bowman must learn the secrets of the Singer people. Thank you for listening to my recommendation and I hope (if you do decide to put this book on your website) that other children will enjoy these books just as I have.
Kind Regards,
A Reading Gladiator
With thanks to Mariam for this excellent recommendation! Have a look at all our previous Book of the Month choices here.
